Horses Helping the Handicapped Inc, (dba Triple H Equitherapy Center) incorporated in Texas in 1995 and received nonprofit 501(c)3 IRS status in 1996.  It is located on a 120-acre ranch, studded with oak trees and crossed by a small creek, about 20 miles North West of San Antonio, Texas. It is equipped with a large barn with 20 horse stalls, three outdoor arenas, wheelchair mounting ramp built to ADA standards, a “bunkhouse”/office/ training center which is wheelchair-accessible including a disabled access bathroom, training room, tack room, small kitchen and office All instructors who teach at Triple H Equitherapy Center are certified through NARHA and they continue to attend workshops and trainings to remain current in their field.

Triple H Equitherapy Center was awarded a rare perfect rating of “100% compliance” with industry standards for safety and program effectiveness by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and has been designated as a Premier Therapeutic Riding Center.  It is the only fully accredited nonprofit NARHA center in the San Antonio area. Triple H Equitherapy Center has received the designation of “Outstanding Provider of Services for the Disabled” in Bandera County twice since 1999.

At Triple H, we measure success quantitatively but we also see progress in very human terms. We have many heartwarming stories to share. Disabled veterans who participate in our programs are recovering strength and agility but they also happily describe their time at the center as “therapy that doesn’t feel like therapy.”  There is no way to measure heartbreak and yet we know that a desolate parent has overcome unspeakable grief over the loss of his son through our
equine facilitated psychotherapy.  Abandoned children and troubled youth have become leaders and other traumatized children have overcome fear and learned to trust again.  We witness miracles almost every day, one precious person at a time.
